I have a indifferent-love-hate relationship with Halo 4’s Spartan Ops commendations. I go between not caring because I don’t really need them to feel complete to obsessively checking to see how close I am to getting the next one to feeling rage at how far away I am to getting the next one. (No, but really. What the hell is the deal the damn Crawler Snipers and Knight Commanders? Bastards)

I seem to have made the ~~mistake~~ decision to start watching the One Piece anime. I was okay until I hit the Arlong Park Arc, and then there were tears all over the place because feels.

(I really don’t know how I could have forgotten how hard that arc hit me when I read the manga the first time. Best/worst series for sure.)

I think the movie treated the character of Harley wonderfully, and loved that Tony saw through his guilt-trip. (No doubt an expert in the field himself.) I’d love it if we get to see more of him at some point.

I’m not as well versed in Marvel comics as I am with DC. Most of what I know about the Mandarin comes from Wikipedia and what friends have told me as well as Iron Man: Armored Adventures cartoon.)

There’s a post here that I agree with regarding the way The Mandarin was handled in the movie. The MCU has taken well-known story arcs from the comics and given them a modern-day spin that make sense for the universe the movies are set in.

I was surprised and maybe a little disappointed when it was revealed that The Mandarin was just a washed-up actor. And then when I thought about it, I really liked the direction they took it.

I think it was a brilliant move on Killian’s part, turning our expectations back on us, the expected threat vs the actual threat to sow confusion and buy him the time he needed to put his plans in action.

But.

This brings up the question of who funded Killian to begin with. He was rejected by Tony, and said that it made him desperate.

We know The Ten Rings were an active terrorist organization from the first Iron Man movie.

I don’t remember if Killian ever said where he got the funding for Extremis - there were people in front of us who talked throughout the movie - but.

I wonder if he ended up going to them - or if they found him. If they gave him the money needed to make Extremis something they could use as a weapon. If this - Killian’s plan - was some kind of practical test. Show them what Extremis could do without exposing their own operations - while they sat back and watched. (Deciding if Extremis was something they could use.) In which case I wonder if The Mandarin is real, or if there is someone else in charge.

Letting Killian use their name while providing the world with a figure they could target, a name they could use. (God knows people need someone to blame, a face to hate.)

It’s possible The Ten Rings are real and Killian was just using their name because they’re a known threat. It’s also possible he wasn’t worried about retaliation from them because he felt Extremis gave him an overwhelming edge - that he was protected if they tried.

I don’t know, though. I tend to over-think things, and I lost a few plot points to the people in the theater with us. *hands*

Also, I missed the last part of your comment: I would love it if it had been a double-bluff the whole time. Putting The Mandarin exactly where he needs to be to put some diabolical scheme into action - maybe in the next Avengers movie or the nest Iron Man one. Everyone distracted by the new baddie that they don’t see him coming until it’s too late - and never realized the baddies were working together.

Ahhh, so many possibilities.

YES. I was a little leery about Harley when I heard about his role in the movie? But he was kind of awesome and I absolutely loved the way Tony interacted with him. Treating him like an actual human being!

That, and I feel like it gives some of my headcanons regarding Tony and kids validation, so. *hands*

It’s been one of those days where tiny things annoy me? One thing in particular today, though. Because words? *hands*

There is a person at my work who always asks if I’m sure about the bit where we have to clock out for lunch if we’re scheduled for six hours or longer.

Always.

This person has been working with us for six months now. This person has worked longer shifts with us in the past where we took our lunch breaks before we hit six hours. This person is driving me crazy.

It’s a state law. I’m not making this shit up, because why? What could I possibly have to gain from misleading them in this way?

If this person thinks this is part of some bizarre hazing ritual, they are totally welcome to ask our managers. No, really. By all means go talk to our supervisors or managers.

It’s not like our managers are going to go, “Lol, no, it’s fine. You go ahead and do what you want, it’s cool.” :DDDDDDDDDDDD

We remind you because we actually like you and don’t want you to get into trouble with our managers. Seriously. There is no ulterior motive here.
